New Beginnings in 5th Grade
I have to tell you…I am loving my new class! They are so much fun! I spent a good portion on the summer in the classroom, cleaning out closets and filing cabinets (the files are still a disaster) and by the first day of school, my class was as close to ready as it was going to get! We have done some really fun activities so far and my class seems to be enjoying themselves.
My welcome back bulletin board was a big hit! I found the idea on Pinterest and decided to take it and run!!! I went to the Hobby Lobby and bought balloons and spent an hour blowing up 35 of them…yes. I have 35 students! My 1 year old nieces pieces helped me put them in garbage bags and get them ready for school. It was pretty cute. :) While I was in a meeting, I showed my assistant (who is AMAZING btw) my inspiration and this is what I came upstairs to….
This project turned out so well. The older grades walk by and stop daily to look at it and comment on it. The upper grade teachers have asked that I do this project with the 6th-8th graders too! I am so proud of my class and they exceeded ALL of my expectations.
We have many more projects and activities coming up, so stay tuned!!!!

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!!!!! There were bets about how long the balloons would last. We made it about 2 weeks and then took them down. I was SO happy with this board and the kiddos loved seeing it!
The next project that went up on the board was their "I AM" projects. I found this project while looking around on Pinterest on day and I came across The Brave Girls Club blog. They had done this activity with the girls in their group, and I decided to take it and turn it into a project for my class. We started off our language arts program talking about self-esteem and this was a PERFECT project! I gave the class the outline for the project and gave them the long weekend to complete it. Here is a link to the "I AM" PROJECT OUTLINE! The result was unreal!!!!

I am linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy 4th Grade for this months Currently!!!!
Listening: I haven't been watching the news much lately. It's been SOOOO depressing and I find myself getting anxious when it comes on. I am SO sick of hearing about tragedy and sadness. The face that my little brother is 2 weeks away from becoming a police officer in one the craziest cities in America doesn't help…especially hearing everything that's happening in the news. ugh….
Loving: Fall is right around the corner!!!! I am SO excited for leggings and long sweaters with boots! I also want to decorate my house! I can't wait to put a fire in the fireplace and curl up with a blanket and a movie.
Thinking: About sleep. I really should stop typing right now and go to BED!!
Wanting: I am in LOVE with these shoes!!! I can NOT find them ANYWHERE!!!!!!! I am going to the Nike Outlet tomorrow to see if they know where I can find them. :)
Needing: The disadvantage to being back at school is that I don't get to see my nieces pieces as much. Bums me out big time. I love her so so much!
Happy Friday!!!!
