Carson-Dellosa Mania!

Friday, August 14, 2015
At the beginning of August, I was asked by Carson-Dellosa to be a Brand Ambassador!!!  I was SO excited!  I have been a HUGE Carson-Dellosa fan since I started teaching.  This year is going to be so much fun, checking out new products and writing reviews.

I am having so much fun decorating my classroom with all of my Carson-Dellosa goodies!!  At the end of the school year, I wanted to leave the boards up so that there was less to do when I came in this August.  However, once I saw the  Chalkboard collection from Carson-Dellosa, all of my ideas changed and I am SO glad they did!

I am absolutely LOVING the Colorful Chalkboard Collection!  The bulletin board set comes with a calendar, birthday chart, incentive chart, and door label.  It's 40 pieces and my favorite part of it is that the numbers for the calendar are oval shaped.  I love that they changed up the typical square numbers and made them oval!  I also love LOVE love that the letters are PREPUNCHED!!!!!  Seriously??  YES!!!  I am getting rid of all my other letters and replacing them with Carson-Dellosa Prepunched letters!!!!!  I am one happy teacher!!!!

Another item that I am excited to use is the Language Arts Interactive Notebook Templates!  I have been using interactive notebooks for about 2 years.  After looking through this book and reviewing my curriculum, I know that this will come in extremely handy this year!!!  I love when my students are hands on, and this book is going to really give them the change to use hands on learning!  It's also Common Core aligned!  Here is a great video showing more about how to use this book in your classroom!

The final product that I received was the Common Core Assessment Record Book.  This book looks AMAZING, but it's not something that I can utilize in my classroom.  It comes with space for 30 students, and unfortunately, just like most private and charter schools, I have more than 30 students in my class.  36 to be exact.  My principal was considering buying one for each of our teachers to use, but decided against it since there wasn't room for all students.  I am hoping maybe next year, there will be more space!!

Overall, I am REALLY excited about the products that Carson-Dellosa has come out with!  My classroom looks amazing and I can't wait to do a reveal on Wednesday afternoon!!!!  More picture to come!

Review Disclaimer: I participate in the Brand Ambassador Program for Carson-Dellosa and have received this product for free to review.

New Beginnings in 5th Grade

Tuesday, September 9, 2014
I have to tell you…I am loving my new class!  They are so much fun!  I spent a good portion on the summer in the classroom, cleaning out closets and filing cabinets (the files are still a disaster) and by the first day of school, my class was as close to ready as it was going to get!  We have done some really fun activities so far and my class seems to be enjoying themselves.

My welcome back bulletin board was a big hit!  I found the idea on Pinterest and decided to take it and run!!!  I went to the Hobby Lobby and bought balloons and spent an hour blowing up 35 of them…yes.  I have 35 students!  My 1 year old nieces pieces helped me put them in garbage bags and get them ready for school.  It was pretty cute.  :)  While I was in a meeting, I showed my assistant (who is AMAZING btw) my inspiration and this is what I came upstairs to….

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!!!!!  There were bets about how long the balloons would last.  We made it about 2 weeks and then took them down.  I was SO happy with this board and the kiddos loved seeing it!

The next project that went up on the board was their "I AM" projects.  I found this project while looking around on Pinterest on day and I came across The Brave Girls Club blog.  They had done this activity with the girls in their group, and I decided to take it and turn it into a project for my class.  We started off our language arts program talking about self-esteem and this was a PERFECT project!  I gave the class the outline for the project and gave them the long weekend to complete it. Here is a link to the "I AM" PROJECT OUTLINE!  The result was unreal!!!!

This project turned out so well.  The older grades walk by and stop daily to look at it and comment on it.  The upper grade teachers have asked that I do this project with the 6th-8th graders too!  I am so proud of my class and they exceeded ALL of my expectations.

We have many more projects and activities coming up, so stay tuned!!!!

I am linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy 4th Grade for this months Currently!!!!

Listening:  I haven't been watching the news much lately.  It's been SOOOO depressing and I find myself getting anxious when it comes on.  I am SO sick of hearing about tragedy and sadness.  The face that my little brother is 2 weeks away from becoming a police officer in one the craziest cities in America doesn't help…especially hearing everything that's happening in the news.  ugh….

Loving:  Fall is right around the corner!!!!  I am SO excited for leggings and long sweaters with boots!  I also want to decorate my house!  I can't wait to put a fire in the fireplace and curl up with a blanket and a movie.

Thinking:  About sleep.  I really should stop typing right now and go to BED!!

Wanting:  I am in LOVE with these shoes!!!  I can NOT find them ANYWHERE!!!!!!!  I am going to the Nike Outlet tomorrow to see if they know where I can find them.  :)

Needing:  The disadvantage to being back at school is that I don't get to see my nieces pieces as much.  Bums me out big time.  I love her so so much!

3 Trips:  The Cabin is my happy place.  It's located along the Feather River in the Sierras.  I am going back up in a few weeks and I can't wait!!!!  Hawaii is my other favorite.  I am going next summer I think…can't wait!  New York….LOVE NYC!!!!!  I want to go back!!!!!!!

Happy Friday!!!!
